HBO Max’s September 2021 promotion slashes the monthly fee of the ad-free version to $7.49 for the first six months, making it cheaper than the ad-supported version ($9.99/month).

The offer available to new and returning customers in the US and can be redeemed directly from HBO Max or via other platforms such as Apple, Google, Roku, LG, Microsoft, Sony, and Vizio.

The deal ends 26 September – pick it up before it ends.

Get HBO Max free through AT&T or your cable provider

There’s no better discount off HBO Max than getting it for free, and if you’re an AT&T customer then you may be able to do just that. AT&T is throwing in HBO Max for no extra charge with select accounts – you can check if yours qualifies for this in the table below:

If your account falls into the ‘other’ category with AT&T, then you may still be eligible for a free trial, which will still save you some money. The length of this will depend on the type of account you have, which you can check on the AT&T website.

If the $14.99 subscription sounds a bit much, then you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s now a cheaper, ad-supported version of HBO Max available. 

The HBO Max with Ads subscription costs $9.99 per month and is the first time that HBO has delivered advertisements to its customers, though it promises to have “the lightest ad load in the streaming industry.”

However, the ad-supported subscription has another big drawback: it won’t include same-day theatrical releases such as Dune, The Suicide Squad and The Matrix 4. You can also only stream up to 1080p picture quality, whereas the full subscription includes 4K content.
